Max Verstappen retains his status as Formula 1’s highest-earning driver, according to RacingNews365 estimates.

These estimates provide a base salary only – they do not include bonuses for race wins or podiums, or sponsorships.

Lewis Hamilton, for so long the top earner in F1, is now trailing Verstappen. He has since moved to Ferrari where his additional sponsors will turn his base salary into a far larger figure.

Charles Leclerc’s new Ferrari deal – signed in advance of the 2024 season – now makes him the third highest earner.

And Lando Norris’ new McLaren contract, also penned in the early weeks of 2024, makes him fourth highest alongside Fernando Alonso.

Oscar Piastri signed a new McLaren contract ahead of the 2025 season which reportedly puts him on similar terms to teammate Norris.

At the other end of the pay scale are the F1 rookies.

Jack Doohan and Isack Hadjar are the only drivers estimated to be earning less than $1m.
