Ferrari have confirmed the placement of their junior drivers for the 2020 Formula 2 season – Mick Schumacher is staying put.

The German racer, son of seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, will continue with Prema Racing for a second season. He heads into the final round of his debut F2 campaign in Abu Dhabi with one win to his name achieved at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

He will be joined at Prema next season by fellow Ferrari prospect and Formula 3 champion Robert Shwartzman. The 20-year-old scored three wins and another seven podiums to take the title by 54 points over another Ferrari youngster in Marcus Armstrong.

But the disappointment for Armstrong has been lifted considerably after he landed an F2 drive with ART for 2020 – the team that took George Russell to the title in 2018 and Nyck De Vries this year.

Callum Ilott heads into the season-finale at Yas Marina Circuit as the best performing Ferrari junior in the F2 standings. He’s currently P11, five points ahead of Schumacher and the Brit has earned himself a drive with UNI-Virtuosi for 2020.

The team re-branded to their current name for 2019, dropping their Russian Time identity, and are currently P2 in the Team’s standings ahead of the last round.

Giuliano Alesi will join the HWA team who are taking over Arden’s entry for 2020.
