Max Verstappen is not expecting himself to be wearing Ferrari red from 2021, saying he does not think a move to the Scuderia will happen.

Verstappen did not improve his chances of perhaps joining Ferrari in the future when accusing them of cheating following the conclusion of the United States Grand Prix.

Ferrari finally addressed those comments at their end-of-season debrief with CEO Louis Camilleri making his feelings on the Dutchman very clear.

But, Verstappen does not see a Ferrari move happening for a different reason.

“I don’t think that will happen,” Verstappen is quoted as having told Ziggo Sport.

“I get along well with Charles. It’s hard racing with him, but that is part of it.

“He has no influence whatsoever on whether I might get a seat at Ferrari. But I don’t think that will happen.

“You shouldn’t have two potential numbers one next to each other. He’s no slouch, is he?”

Verstappen also reflected on the 2019 season and how close Red Bull potentially could be to being firmly in the title hunt in 2020 with their Honda power.

“Compared to Mercedes, we’re close on power, so the pressure is on for next year,” Verstappen said.

“We need the pressure and we need to raise the bar. Everyone has to be at their best. The same is expected of me.

“I am really impressed with how Honda work. There is no limit, they will do everything for you.

“There’s a lot of potential there. Throughout this year every goal they set, or everything they promised, they delivered and more.

“That’s what you want to see, so I’m very happy we’re continuing the partnership and I hope we can go even further next year.”

Verstappen’s current Red Bull contract expires at the end of the 2020 season.
