After Max Verstappen won the sprint race earlier this Saturday, the reigning world champion secured the fastest qualifiying lap, making him pole sitter for the race on Sunday. This is his sixth consecutive pole position this season. On the Miami International Autodrome Charles Leclerc drove his Ferarri into second place, while Carlos Sainz took third. It was Max’s Oracle Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Perez and McLaren’s Lando Norris who completed the top five.

“We definitely improved the car”, Max explains after qualifying, “But I don’t know what it is; every single year that we come here I find it extremely difficult to be consistent. (…) Today it was really about finding that balance. (…) It’s not the most enjoyable lap out of my career because of how slippery it is (…) but we are on pole and that’s what’s important.
