SPIEBERG, Austria — RB driver Yuki Tsunoda has been summoned to the stewards at the Austrian Grand Prix for his use of language over team radio.

During qualifying, Tsunoda opened his radio to say “these guys are f—ing retarded” in reference to rival drivers.

The comments were made after the Japanese driver was overtaken in the pit lane by Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu.

The stewards cited a breach of Article 12.2.1 k) of the International Sporting Code in its summons, which, among other things, forbids “misconduct towards … licence holders, officials … and members of the staff of the competitors.”

Tsunoda attended the stewards’ office at 8 p.m. local.
